FORMER BARCELONA PRESIDENT JOAN LAPORTE INDICATED THAT PARIS Saint-Germain (PSG) MADE A €250 MILLION BID FOR YOUNG STAR LAMINE YAMAL
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain were prepared to pay €250 million to sign Lamine Yamal. Speaking at the launch of his new book on Tuesday.
Joan Laporta said many people thought they were crazy when they turned down the offer. Yamal has attracted the attention of several major European clubs after impressing in the 2023/2024 season.
At the time, PSG were looking for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who had joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.
If Barcelona had accepted the €250 million bid for Yamal, who was then 17, it would have surpassed the world record of €222 million that PSG paid for Neymar in 2017.
“When PSG offered us €250 million for Lamine Yamal and we rejected him, at 17; many thought we were crazy,” Laporta said.
